Digital Video In-Stream Ad Standard’s

According to IAB there is two types (linear and Nonlinear) of format currently practiced in digital video in-stream advertisement. 

Linear: Linear videos are usually served with a companion banner, which can be found beside video player.it can be placed pre-roll, mid-roll or post-roll ad. And also can be interactive. And file formats should help linear ads scale across screens for desktop, mobile, and beyond

Maximum ad display duration:  

 Most practiced Video In-Stream linear Ad’s duration are

  •          6 seconds
  •         15 seconds
  •          30 seconds


If the ad is interactive then there is a limitation that the duration of ad should be 15-30 seconds.

Some Other duration commonly accepted as well:
  •          Short-form video creative (3-10 seconds in length)
  •         60 second spots
 Dimensions:

·         16:9 Aspect Ratio (formatted for HD screens)
       Resolution:

  •      Low quality file (640x360)
  •       Medium quality file “854x480 (SD-US)” and “1024x576 (SD-EU)”
  •       High quality file “1280x720 (HD)” & “1920x1080 (HD)”


·         4:3 Aspect Ratio (Low and medium quality when only SD available)
       Resolution:

  •        Low quality file “640x480”
  •        Medium quality file “854x480” & “720x540 (SD)”

Video Bitrate:

  •          Low quality file (500-700 kbps)
  •          Medium quality file (700-1500 kbps)
  •          High quality file (1500-2500 kbps)

Audio Bitrate:

  •         128-192 kbps (AAC-LC)
  •          64-128 kbps (AACv1)



Average File Size:

  •          Low -- 1.5-2mb
  •          Medium -- 3-4mb
  •          High -- 6-8mb


 Maximum ad display duration: 

Most practiced Video In-Stream Nonlinear Ad’s duration are

  •        5-15 seconds
  •         Persistent

 Overlay Dimensions:

     The overlay ad should not be more than 1/5 of the height of the player. For animated overlay ad units, publishers may allow an extra 20 additional vertical pixels.
  
   Generally accepted ad dimensions are 

  •         300x50
  •        450x50


Companion Ad Guidelines:



     Both linear and nonlinear ads have the option to be served with a companion ad. Companion ads are display ads in the form of text, static image, rich media, or skins that wrap around the video experience. Companion ads come in a number of sizes and may require some coordination for appropriate placement. The primary purpose for the companion ad is to offer sustained visibility of the sponsor throughout the streaming video experience and to leave behind a reminder after the linear or nonlinear component has been completed.
