Flash Cookies, HTML 5 storage and HTTP Cookies

FLASH COOKIES
  • Also known as a Local Share Object, or LSO. It is a collection of cookie-like data that a web site running Adobe Flash can place on your hard drive.
  • Default size limit is 100 KB
  • Storage is less persistent than HTML 5
  • It can store many keys and values
  • Stored outside the browser
  • Accessed by multiple browsers on the same computer



HTML 5 storage
  • Stores data with no expiration date and stores data for one session (data is lost when the browser tab is closed)
  • Default size limit is 5 MB
  • Storage is more persistent than HTTP cookies
  • Stores less than flash cookies
  • Stores in SQL file (Firefox)
  • It is accessed only by the same browser



HTTP Cookies
  • Called web cookie, Internet cookie, browser cookie, or simply cookie.
  • Size limit is only 4 KB
  • These expires by default
  • Stores very less as compared to HTML and flash
  •  Stores in SQL file (Firefox)
  •  It is also accessed only by the same browser
